Cow Trail Classic, Sunday May 3rd 2009
This race is a great event for beginners and recreational racers alike.
New for this year . . .
- not a BC Cup race this year, less officialness, more fun for us, we hope for you
- lunch for every racer included in the entry fee
- perhaps some new course tweaks, as the snow is still 6' deep as of late Feb no solid plans yet
Expect top racers participating, as well as weekend warriors, just for the fun of it. The race course includes some double track roads but is predominantly single track, including some challenging "technical" sections. At this point we are not sure what the course changes will be this year as we still have snow on the ground (as of March 5th). We have some fun course changes kicking around the back of our heads along with the cobwebs. We can tell you that there will be one lap, two lap and easy lap options and that overall the course will be similar to past years. As in past years I would caution riders who do not have racing experience from entering into the two lap category, it is a long ride and the second time around the climb from the bottom of JP to the top of Rock'n'Roll is a long one.
We have modified the course a bit this year:
- The long loop is now longer, 4km longer than last year, making one lap approx. 20 km.
- The easy lap is still available for novice racers
- The "easy" loop option is still available and eliminates the black diamond technical sections and the long climb on the top half of the loop.

Accommodation
We have arranged for a bit of a deal for racers. The Ramada is offering a price of $79 (plus tax for 2 queens. They have an indoor pool, hot tub, water slides, and a sauna. They also have offered to let racers lock their bikes inside in the meeting room as long as they are not mud covered. Ask for Anoop if you have any problems. Phone 250-378-3567.

Prizes:
Lots of draw prizes. All of-age category winners receive beer, under age winner will receive pop. Some category winners will receive custom built openers made from used rims.
Getting to the Race:
-
Take the exit off of the highway beside the Mc Donalds. This will put you
on Voght St.
- Stay on Voght St. You will go down a hill and pass the RCMP building
on your right.
- Continue on Voght, pass through two sets of traffic lights and then
over a small bridge.
- You will now be making a sweeping right and the Tolko mill is on your
left.
- Take your first left on to Mid Day Valley Road, it is paved at this point.
The pavement turns left, go straight, the road quickly turns to gravel road, still Mid Day
Valley Road.
- Just after the second cattle guard the road levels out and you are at
the race site. The "Cow Trail" is on your right.
- Look for the wooden sign about 100m off of the main road 10ft up in
a big pine tree. Have fun!
